Sierra Leone is a country located in West Africa, the capital is Freetown. Share border with Guinea, Liberia and adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, the country has an area of about 71,740 square kilometres and a population of about 7.9 million people. In 2021, Sierra Leone's GDP was $4.2 billion, GDP per capita was $515.9, with a growth rate at 3.1%. Sierra Leone is member of the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Commonwealth, the African Union, the Economic Community of West African States and the Mano River Union.
Sierra Leone's economy is dominated by agriculture, mainly growing coffee, cocoa, palm oil, peanuts, rice and other crops. In addition, the country has mineral resources, such as diamonds, iron ore and bauxite. Politically, Sierra Leone is a presidential republic country. The president is the supreme leader, and policies are executed by the president and the cabinet. Sierra Leone also has a bicameral parliament, comprising the Parliament and the Senate. In terms of culture, Sierra Leone has a rich variety of traditional music and dance. In addition, the country has many beautiful natural scenery and wild animals.
The Commercial Counsellor's Office of the Embassy of Sierra Leone in China, is the representative of the Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and a department of the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The Commercial Counsellor serves the development of bilateral economic and trade between Sierra Leone and China, the mutually beneficial cooperation between enterprises of the two countries, and the promotion and development of friendship between Sierra Leone and China, with responsibilities including:
1. participate in the formulation and implementation of bilateral economic and trade development plans for Sierra Leone and China;
2. follow up and study China's local economic and trade policies, laws and regulations and market system, and put forward relevant policies and suggestions;
3. handle economic and trade affairs between the governments of Serbia and China, and cooperate with the signing and implementation of intergovernmental economic and trade cooperation agreements;
4. communcate with Chinese government agencies, financial departments, industry intermediary organizations, industrial and commercial enterprises; coordinate, recommend, and be the liaison of key bilateral projects and key enterprises; organize and actively promote major bilateral economic and trade expos;
5. study and put forward suggestions on promoting investment, and approval on the establishment of enterprises and institutions;
6. actively engage in negotiations following the rules of the World Trade Organization, and multilateral/ bilateral economic and trade agreements, to maintain the order of bilateral economic and trade cooperation;
7. provide guidence to Sierra Leone-funded enterprises, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Sierra Leone-funded enterprises and institutions, and protect the personal and property safety of Sierra Leone business personnel in China;
8. provide bilateral economic and trade information and advisory services, carry out publicity, and establish business environment for economic and trade cooperation;
9. undertake other tasks assigned by the Ministry of Commerce and the Embassy in China.
